2nd Infantry Division Living History Association

2nd ID soldiers fighting in Brest, September 1944The soldiers of the U.S. Army 2nd Infantry Division, Living History Association (HRS) are a group of individuals, from a wide range of backgrounds, and with re-enacting experience ranging from "green hand" to veteran. We are affiliated with the World War Two Historical Re-enactment Society. Our base of operations is in the greater Omaha / Lincoln Nebraska area.  We also have members who reside in South Dakota, Iowa and Colorado.

We all share a common desire to honor the very men that we portray through research, public education, and field re-enacting of World War II history. We have elected to portray the U.S. Army's 2nd Infantry Division.

The 2nd landed in Normandy on D-Day +1, and has one of the longest and most decorated battle records of any U.S. Army division. They recorded 303 days of combat in five campaigns before the cessation of hostilities. Soldiers in the 2nd received many awards including a number of Medal of Honor winners and numerous Distinguished Service Crosses.

2nd Division in action, Feb 1945

There are many divisions that we would be equally proud to have been associated with, but we have chosen to portray the U.S. army infantry division whose motto has always been "Second to None".
